The queen’s platinum jubilee 2022

This year, 2022, we celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Reigning for 70 years, she is Britain’s longest serving monarch.

Official Platinum Jubilee Portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

During her message to the Commonwealth in 2011, Her Majesty the Queen, after speaking about her family, said: “Although we are capable of great acts of kindness, history teaches us that we sometimes need saving from ourselves – from our recklessness or our greed. God sent into the world a unique person – neither a philosopher nor a general, important though they are, but a Saviour, with the power to forgive. Forgiveness lies at the heart of the Christian faith. It can heal broken families, it can restore friendships and it can reconcile divided communities. It is in forgiveness that we feel the power of God’s love.”

There is a Monarch before whom even Her Majesty the Queen will one day bow. In the very Book with which the Queen was presented on her coronation we read that Jesus the Lord will reign for ever and ever. Jesus is the King of kings, the ultimate Sovereign of the world. He rules over all of creation. He is high and exalted, surrounded by worshipping angels. To Him is due the worship of the nations. We read in the Bible, that Jesus:

“being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something
to be used to his own advantage; rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross!
“Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name
that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. ” – Philippians 2:6-11

“The entire plan for the future has its key in the resurrection”
